Exxon Mobil Corp. and other energy companies say state courts have no business hearing high-profile climate cases from local governments that want to hold the industry liable for the impacts of climate change.
In a Nov. 18 brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, Exxon, Suncor Energy Inc., and its affiliates argued that a lawsuit from Boulder, Boulder County, and San Miguel County involves issues “of uniquely national importance” that don’t belong in state court.
