Exxon Moves D.C. Climate Case Against Big Oil to Federal Court

Exxon Mobil Corp. on Friday pushed the District of Columbia’s years-in-the-making climate lawsuit to a federal district court, setting up another showdown over whether climate liability claims belong in local or federal jurisdiction.

District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine (D) filed the complaint in the local Superior Court of the District of Columbia last month, accusing Exxon, Chevron Corp., BP Plc, and Royal Dutch Shell Plc of misleading companies about how fossil fuels contribute to rising global temperatures.
