Exxon Mobil Signs Deal to Advance Tech Sucking Carbon from Air

Exxon Mobil Corp. and Global Thermostat signed a joint development agreement to advance technology for capturing carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, industrial sites and the atmosphere itself.

Under the agreement announced June 27, the companies will assess the scalability of Global Thermostat’s carbon capture technology for large industrial use and examine economic uses for the trapped gas.

Global Thermostat is one of a number of companies advancing technology that could suck carbon dioxide out of the air. Its dry process relies on capturing the gas with amines that act like a sponge to suck it out of the air. ...
