Exxon Mobil Corp. must defend against consumer fraud claims in local court in Washington, D.C., after a federal judge rejected the oil giant’s claims for federal jurisdiction.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday remanded to D.C. Superior Court a challenge from the advocacy group Beyond Pesticides, which accuses Exxon of overstating its investments in clean energy. The case is part of a larger movement of climate litigation nationwide.
