Exxon Fails to Pare More Pennsylvania Water Contamination Claims

Exxon Mobil Corp. lost its bid to escape responsibility for recovery costs from groundwater chemical contamination in Pennsylvania the state says it and several other companies owe.

Exxon’s argument that terms of a previous settlement with the state precludes recovery regarding 52 sites failed to persuade Judge Denise L. Cote, who denied the company’s partial summary judgment motion in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday.
