Exelon Nuclear Station Filing Jolts Illinois Energy Bill Talks

Exelon Corp.‘s plan to shutter two Illinois nuclear power plants gives state lawmakers two options: wrap up negotiations and offer subsidies for the power stations to remain open, or continue haggling and allow the plants to power down.

Exelon on Wednesday announced it intends to file with federal regulators post shutdown decommissioning activities reports for its Byron and Dresden stations “detailing long-term site restoration plans for both stations after they shut down this fall.”
