The European Union’s REACH chemicals law is working well and should not be revised, though clarification is needed of some of the obligations for companies, the European Chemicals Agency said May 26 in its second report on the implementation of REACH.
The report comes a year ahead of the publication of a once-every-five-years review of REACH, which is being conducted by the European Commission, the EU’s executive. Under REACH (Regulation No. 1907/2006 on the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals), the commission is required to finalize the review by June 1, 2017.
