Ethanol Maker Green Plains Invests in Carbon Capture Plan

U.S. ethanol producer Green Plains Inc. is investing in an ambitious new carbon capture and sequestration project, part of Chief Executive Todd Becker’s goal of transforming the company into a climate-friendly maker of sustainable corn-based ingredients.

The project, to be developed by Summit Carbon Solutions, will ship carbon dioxide via pipeline from Iowa to North Dakota for deposit into geologic storage, Green Plains said in a statement. The corn ethanol producer is investing an undisclosed amount to help fund the plan.
