Equitrans Must Face State Court Suit Over Damage From Pipeline

A lawsuit alleging Equitrans Ltd., Enbridge Inc., and other companies damaged property by their construction and operation of a gas pipeline must proceed in a Kentucky state court, a federal judge ruled in a loss for the companies.

Plaintiffs Cheryl Tackett, Lara Adkins, and Amanda Jones say in their brief complaint that the companies built a pipeline close to their property in Floyd County, Ky. The companies negligently or grossly negligently “caused damage to the plaintiff’s property” by their “construction, maintenance, operation and repair of the pipeline,” they told the Floyd Circuit Court.
