EPA’s Zeldin Says Agency Is Open to Restarting Canceled Grants

The EPA will likely end up restoring some grants that have been canceled once they are more closely examined, agency head Lee Zeldin told lawmakers on Wednesday.

Zeldin’s comments, which marked a tonal shift from his typically bold language about slashing wasteful spending, came in response to repeated grilling from Democratic senators about specific grants they said have been canceled for reasons that haven’t been disclosed. The panel’s Republican chair also posed questions about particular canceled funding.
