A cleaning products association has become the first industry group to successfully get ingredients included on an EPA list of safer chemicals.
The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) encouraged other trade groups to follow its lead and help expand the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Chemical Ingredients List (SCIL), which identifies chemicals proven safer than traditional chemical ingredients for the particular purpose they serve.
The “green” list helps industry at large, because it shows there is information to back up statements that chemicals can be safely used, Kathleen Stanton, ACI’s associate vice president, said Thursday.
