The EPA announced a new bid to canvass ideas for environmentally beneficial projects undertaken by companies, an effort that could protect the policy against a future administration that wants to undo them.
The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday unveiled a new way for members of the public to send in their ideas for supplemental environmental projects (SEPs). Companies can volunteer to undertake SEPs, such as restoration work, public awareness campaigns, or pollution cleanups, as part of their settlements, often in exchange for a reduction in their penalties.
