EPA’s Popular Energy Star Program Moved to Energy Department

The Trump administration has moved the energy-efficiency program for appliances from the EPA to the Department of Energy, according to a memorandum of agreement signed Tuesday.

The shakeup of the successful Energy Star program—widely recognized as a model of a public-private partnership—was not surprising, given that Environmental Protection Agency head Lee Zeldin has spoken in the past about either shifting it to DOE or privatizing it.
