A new EPA-drafted national recycling strategy seeks to make recycling more efficient by educating consumers and establishing a one-stop shop for recycling data, the agency announced Monday.
The Environmental Protection Agency has no authority to directly govern states’ recycling policies. Recycling is largely regulated by municipalities, leading to variations in the types of materials that are accepted for recycling, as well as recycling processes.
