Business groups and trade associations are seeking a quick win against the Environmental Protection Agency in their challenge to a final rule that they say imposed “impossible-to-meet” water quality standards for Washington state.
The regulations “are so stringent that compliance cannot even be measured, much less achieved,” the Association of Washington Business, the American Forest & Paper Association, and others told the US District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday.
The groups sued in December, saying EPA’s action was a complete reversal of a previous agency decision and made without proper justification.
