The EPA lawfully sought and published public comment on costs associated with the Biden administration’s limits for PFAS in drinking water, the Government Accountability Office said in a report published Wednesday.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 required the GAO to review the Environmental Protection Agency’s cost estimates for limitations on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water, which were finalized last year. Scientists have linked PFAS to cancer and other illnesses.
