The EPA’s biggest union has filed a formal grievance with the agency, alleging unsafe working conditions at a vehicle testing lab in Ann Arbor, Mich., that one employee described as a “Covid incubator.”
In its grievance, the American Federation of Government Employees Local 704 claimed that the Environmental Protection Agency has moved some emergency response staffers into a prefabricated office that doesn’t meet basic standards for air ventilation.
The “portafab” is located inside a vehicle testing warehouse, the union said. Workers were directed to report to that location after the EPA closed a lab in Grosse Ile, Mich.
