EPA Will Target Oil and Gas Industry for Deeper Methane Cuts

The Biden administration is seeking to deepen methane reductions from the oil and gas industry as it hones proposed mandates targeting wells, processors and other equipment, EPA Deputy Administrator Janet McCabe said Tuesday.

  • In response to a flood of public comments on the proposed rule advanced last year, the agency is looking “to find opportunities to obtain additional pollution reductions in an upcoming supplemental proposal,” McCabe said at the Global Methane, Climate and Clean Air Forum in Virginia
  • That supplemental proposed rule is set to come soon and be finalized next year, McCabe said
