EPA Will Reassess Glyphosate Cancer Risks After Court Decision

The Environmental Protection Agency will withdraw a 2020 interim decision that deemed the weed-killing chemical glyphosate to be free from cancer risk, the agency announced Friday.

The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in June vacated the health portion of its risk assessment for the chemical, used in products like the weedkiller Roundup. The panel concluded that the agency’s reasoning for a risk-free determination was flawed.
