The EPA should reflect on its experience managing the $7.2 billion it got under the 2009 stimulus bill to help it track the $60 billion it received under last year’s infrastructure bill, the agency’s in-house watchdog said Thursday.
The guidance is the latest missive from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Inspector General expressing concern that the unprecedented amount of taxpayer dollars flooding into the agency may be misspent or even outright stolen.
In 15 previous reports, the inspector general found that the agency “experienced challenges” with project management, monitoring, and data verification under the 2009 stimulus package.
