The Environmental Protection Agency will withdraw by April 14 direct final significant new use rules (SNURs) that would have restricted uses of four chemicals designed for adhesive and other applications. The agency will reissue the regulations as proposed rules and seek comment.
Using procedures published in 1989 in which the EPA detailed the general process it follows when issuing SNURs, the agency will withdraw the direct final rules for the four chemicals due to concerns the American Chemistry Council and the Lord Corp. have submitted about the regulations.
