EPA Sued for Not Protecting Polluted Alabama Streams (1)

The EPA is in hot water for not protecting two Northern Alabama streams from pollution that is threatening the habitat of the flattened musk turtle and the endangered Black Warrior waterdog.

The Black Warrior Riverkeeper sued the Environmental Protection Agency on Feb. 27 for allowing Alabama to drop Lost Creek and Big Yellow Creek from its list of polluted waters prioritized for cleanup.

The Clean Water Act requires the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to identify all polluted lakes, rivers, and streams and submit that list to the EPA for approval. Placement on ...
