EPA Sued for Failing to Update Water Quality Standards List

The EPA has failed to annually update the list of of state and federal water quality standards in effect, as required under the Clean Water Act, environmental groups alleged in a federal lawsuit.

The US Environmental Protection Agency should also annually update the pollutants associated with the standards and the particular waters to which they apply, Our Children’s Earth Foundation and Ecological Rights Foundation said.

The agency has periodically published a partial list of standards, but hasn’t annually updated it.
