The EPA on Wednesday started the process of canceling all products containing the pesticide Dacthal, which has been linked to serious health problems.
All products containing Dacthal are already suspended under a temporary order issued earlier this month. The Environmental Protection Agency’s new process is meant to ensure the pesticide never comes back to the market.
Starting Thursday, the agency will take public comments on an earlier pledge by AMVAC Chemical Corp. to voluntarily cancel all products containing Dacthal in the US. AMVAC is the only company registered to make Dacthal in the nation.
