The EPA clamped down on telework and remote work on Wednesday, according to an email sent to agency staff and reviewed by Bloomberg Law.
The move intensifies an ongoing battle with the American Federation of Government Employees, which says the Environmental Protection Agency is violating language in a contract the two signed last year.
Under the agency’s new rules, regular telework is not authorized and situational telework is limited to 24 hours in any two consecutive pay periods. That varies sharply from the current AFGE contract, which carves out rules for regular, situational, and medical telework.
