EPA Snips Paperwork Requirement Out of Air Permit Renewals

The EPA on Friday tweaked its rules to make it easier for major air pollution sources to renew their operating permits.

The streamlining is consistent with President Donald Trump’s broader effort to boost domestic auto manufacturing, energy generation, and other industries that emit large amounts of air pollution.

Under the new guidance, permit holders under Title V of the Clean Air Act can now “essentially resubmit the prior application with a current date” when it’s time to renew, as long as there have been no changes to the permit terms or underlying requirements.
