EPA Settles With Party at California Pulp Site

The Environmental Protection Agency announced it has entered into a proposed agreement under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act with a pulp mill company in California, according to a notice scheduled for publication Sept. 14. The EPA is entering into a settlement with Humboldt Bay Harbor, Conservation and Recreation District for recovery of response costs concerning the Samoa Pulp Removal Superfund Site in Samoa, Calif. The agreement requires the pump mill company to reimburse the EPA based on any salvage of fixtures at the site, including the pulp mill boiler, or on any sale of the real property ...
