A new program will help disadvantaged areas remove and replace lead water pipes, Environmental Protection Agency officials announced Tuesday in the latest move toward the Biden administration’s goal of replacing millions of risky service lines in the country.
EPA’s Get the Lead Out (GLO) initiative aims to help 200 underserved communities locate lead pipes and apply for federal grants to remove and replace them, Radhika Fox, the agency’s assistant administrator for water, said Tuesday at EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
