EPA Rolls Out Trio of New Environmental Justice Projects

The EPA unveiled a project Friday to learn more about Indigenous Arctic communities’ exposure to emissions of black carbon, a form of soot that comes from cooking stoves, diesel engines, and wood burning.

The announcement came as part of a suite of projects the Environmental Protection Agency rolled out to support environmental justice.

The Black Carbon Health Assessment in Indigenous Arctic Communities project will help those communities identify significant local sources of the emissions and share best practices for preventing health impacts, the EPA said.
