EPA Rolls Out More Environmental Justice Grants Ahead of Trump

The EPA on Thursday announced 84 more recipients to share in a $1.6 billion pot of environmental justice grant funding, the biggest such investment in US history.

The announcement is the latest sign that the Biden administration is hurrying to get the massive amounts of funding under the 2022 climate law out the door before Jan. 20, when President-elect Donald Trump takes office and Republicans gain control of the Senate.

The 84 recipients announced Thursday join 21 earlier awardees under the Environmental Protection Agency’s Community Change Grants program.
