Di-isobutyl phthalate, a chemical used to make plastics, poses an unreasonable risk to workers and the environment, the EPA said in a draft risk evaluation released Thursday.
The Environmental Protection Agency released a draft risk evaluation for di-isobutyl phthalate (DIBP), which is used to make adhesives and sealants.
After the EPA receives public comment on and a scientific critique of its draft risk evaluation, the agency will finalize it and decide whether the phthalate has so much potential to harm people or the environment that it must be regulated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
