Companies seeking to make any of hundreds of PFAS that haven’t been produced for years must first seek an EPA review of the proposed new use of the chemical, under a rule the agency finalized Monday.
A company that wants to make or import any of 329 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) that are listed as “inactive” under the Toxics Substances Control Act must notify the Environmental Protection Agency 90 days ahead of time so it can review the company’s plans, according to the final rule (RIN 2070-AL10).
