EPA Registers New Pesticide for Pet Use

The Environmental Protection Agency has registered new pesticide products containing the active ingredient demiditraz, the first U.S. registrations for pesticides containing that active ingredient, according to a registration decision document posted online Sept. 11. Demiditraz, a new acaricide developed by Pfizer Animal Health, will be used to control blood-feeding invertebrates, such as ticks and fleas, on dogs. The EPA said the registered end-use product, which contains demiditraz and fipronil as active ingredients, can be applied by pet owners and professional pet care applicators.
