EPA Proposes Amendments to Gas Emissions Reporting Requirements

The EPA is proposing to amend the reporting requirements for petroleum and natural gas systems under the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, according to a new release Thursday.

The proposed revisions respond to gaps in total methane emissions reported by adding new covered sources, including “other large release events.” This would allow for abnormal methane emission events to be captured that are otherwise not completely accounted for under existing methods, the Environmental Protection Agency said.
