EPA Poised to Propose Rule For Chemical Risk Determinations

The White House has cleared a proposed EPA rule revising the agency’s strategy of deciding when a chemical is so risky that its uses have to be restricted.

The White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) approved on Thursday the EPA’s proposed rule describing updated procedures the EPA would use as it evaluates a chemical’s risks under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

OIRA’s approval means the EPA can propose its regulation any time.
