The EPA is vowing to tackle environmental justice concerns head-on during waste cleanups including at Superfund and redeveloped Brownfield waste sites under an action plan released Wednesday.
The draft plan calls for elevating environmental equity concerns in environmental regulations, improving community engagement, and enhancing enforcement of Environmental Protection Agency regulations in communities already overburdened with pollution.
The action plan covers EPA land protection and cleanup efforts under its Office of Land and Emergency Management Programs, which also include emergency response, solid waste management, and underground storage tanks.
