EPA Ozone Plans Underestimate Health Risk, Clean Air Panel Warns

All but one member of an independent clean air panel charged with reviewing EPA science disagrees with a draft agency assessment that would leave ozone pollution rules unchanged from their 2015 levels.

The Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee on ozone met Tuesday for two days of meetings on a draft report that addresses a March policy assessment (PA) provided by the Environmental Protection Agency.

EPA staff say acceptable levels of ozone pollution under National Ambient Air Quality Standards, or NAAQS, can remain unchanged after reviewing the research. Most CASAC members say otherwise.
