The Environmental Protection Agency is taking too long to approve or reject New York’s plans to meet air quality standards, an environmental group says in a new lawsuit filed in federal court.
The agency’s delay violates the mandatory deadlines set by the Clean Air Act, Our Children’s Earth Foundation says in its lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Under the act, the EPA sets National Ambient Air Quality Standards and states submit state implementation plans and revised SIPs to meet those standards.
