The Environmental Protection Agency has ordered Union Pacific Railroad to assess the potential contamination in and around a former wood preserving facility in Houston, according to a Monday news release.
The EPA said it has issued an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent to UPRR, and the company’s field work is expected to begin in the spring with oversight from the EPA.
The results will inform next steps for the EPA, the city of Houston, Harris County, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, according to the agency.
