Inhance Technologies LLC must stop making three PFAS that are so toxic they present unreasonable public health risks, the EPA announced on Friday.
The Environmental Protection Agency also ordered Inhance to stop producing another six per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as long as a process the company uses to strengthen plastic containers produces the three PFAS: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), and perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA).
The orders for the nine chemicals are effective as of Feb. 28, 2024. The EPA will release details once confidential business information is removed from the orders, the agency said.
