The EPA illegally approved rules that allow industrial facilities, military bases, airports, and petroleum refineries to avoid reporting certain amounts of harmful PFAS pollution, environmental and community groups told a Washington, D.C., federal court Thursday.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s action violated the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, the lawsuit says. It also violated the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act, which added PFAS to a database created by the EPCRA, the groups told the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
