The Environmental Protection Agency must propose and finalize new hazardous air pollutant rules for the oil and gas sector by December 2025, according to a consent decree with environmental groups.
California Communities Against Toxics, the Coalition for a Safe Environment, and the Sierra Club claimed that the agency violated the Clean Air Act when it failed to review the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for oil and natural gas production, transmission, and storage facilities.
