EPA May Low-Ball Carcinogenic Solvent Exposure, Advisers Say (1)

Consumers and workers are exposed to greater amounts of a cancer-causing solvent than the EPA has recognized in an analysis that will underlie regulatory decisions, an agency advisory committee said Tuesday.

The Environmental Protection Agency should revise its initial analysis of the solvent, trichloroethylene, and recognize the total amount of the chemical that workers breathe in and touch, its Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) said in a report.
