The EPA may invite chemical manufacturers and others to submit toxicity and exposure information on dozens of chemicals already on its radar for potential scrutiny.
“EPA is considering opening dockets for these chemicals in order to collect relevant information needed for prioritization and risk evaluation,” the agency said May 14 in an emailed response to questions that Bloomberg Environment submitted.
If a chemical is deemed to pose an unreasonable risk, the Toxic Substances Control Act amendments of 2016 require the EPA to take regulatory or other actions to prevent those risks.
