The EPA will shift scientists out of its research and development office and into its air, water, and chemical divisions as part of a sweeping reorganization, the agency said on Friday.
The announcement comes amid President Donald Trump’s sweeping overhaul of the federal government, and follows weeks of speculation that the Environmental Protection Agency would outright dismiss up to 75% of the 1,540 staff at its Office of Research and Development. No employees are being let go under the plan, an EPA spokeswoman said.
