The EPA Friday announced a new program to help underserved communities access money from the infrastructure law to replace lead pipes.
The new effort, known as the Lead Service Line Replacement Accelerators initiative, will offer “hands-on support to guide communities through the process of lead service line removals, from start to finish,” according to an Environmental Protection Agency statement.
The support will include help in creating plans to replace lead service lines, developing inventories to identify lead pipes, conducting community outreach and education efforts, and drafting applications for funding under the infrastructure law (Public Law 117-58), the EPA said.
