EPA Inspections Rising Under Biden Administration, Agency Says

The EPA’s inspections increased by more than 78% in the last fiscal year, reflecting the agency’s pledge to ratchet up enforcement particularly in disadvantaged communities long suffering from pollution, the agency said Friday.

The Environmental Protection Agency conducted 5,861 on-site inspections in fiscal 2022, up from 3,288 in fiscal 2021 and 3,198 in fiscal 2020. Nearly one-quarter of its inspections were focused on the agency’s highest priorities—addressing operations posing threats from air and water pollution and hazardous chemicals, the report said.
