EPA Holds ‘Black Sky’ Summit • Chemical Use Sharing Debated • Drones Hunt Contamination

As Hurricane Florence vividly depicts severe weather’s toll, the EPA is hosting a summit today to discuss so-called “black sky” hazards.

Black sky hazards are catastrophic events “that severely disrupt the normal functioning of our critical infrastructures in multiple regions for long durations,” according to the Electric Infrastructure Security Council.

The Water Sector Power and Black Sky Resilience Summit will focus on the water sector’s preparedness for a long-duration, widespread power outage.
