EPA Hit With Clean Air Suit Over Sulfur Standard Delays (1)

Environmental groups say that the EPA has failed to adequately enforce sulfur dioxide standards under the Clean Air Act for more than a decade, according to a new complaint seeking to force the agency to act.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, accused the agency of missing various statutory deadlines after under national standards issued in 2010. The Center for Biological Diversity and the Sierra Club said in total, the agency’s inaction negatively affects more than 1.6 million people.
