EPA Plans to Give Arizona Control Over Injection Wells (Correct)

The EPA on Thursday announced that it plans to grant Arizona full control over underground wastewater injection wells under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

The Environmental Protection Agency is inviting other states to apply for primacy over the Underground Injection Control (UIC) program, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said during a “signing ceremony” for the proposal at EPA headquarters in Washington.

“We’re open for business,” Zeldin said. “Our message to other states is to get your requests in to us.”
